In case you don’t already know him, Alexander Duncan is a full-time artist who teaches when he is not behind an easel in his own studio. His work intersects the figurative and the abstract and rests on an original blend of observation and memory. He has exhibited widely in various venues in London, Milan, Houston, Aspen, Dallas and New York.

Alex trained at the St Martin’s School of Art and now teaches at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea.

Alex is extremely enthusiastic, imaginative, knowledgeable and approachable but above all a highly practical tutor. He is adept at showing you how the process of painting actually works – not something that everybody in his position is able to do, or at least able to do well. His words are useful. His practical guidance on how to paint even more so.
